2001 Radionuclide Testing

Radionuclides are natural occuring (usually) substances, that are of concern, and are checked on a routine basis by the State. Again, we tested at both our treatment plants, 260 E. Washington St. is EP#1, and our plant on McKinley Avenue is EP#2.

Radioactive Contaminants
Sample Site Sample Date Gross Alpha Gross Beta
EP#1 5/14/2001 .4 + 1.2 pCi/l = 1.6 pCi/l 3.2 +/- 3.9 pCi/l
EP#2 5/14/2001 .4 + 1.2 pCi/l = 1.6 pCi/l 2.7 +/- 3.9 pCi/l
Maximum Contaminant Level 5 pCi/l 50 pCi/l

Quoting from the letter we received from IDEM concerning these tests - "Since your system has not exceeded the action limits of 5 pCi/l for gross alpha particle activity and 50 pCi/l for gross beta particle activity, your system has fulfilled the necessary monitoring requirements for the radionuclides for this compliance period."
